Dad's Surgery Update

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers over the past couple days. According to mom and my sister K, Dad seems to be doing okay and is now in recovery mode. Mom was with him yesterday for most of the day and sent me an update ... well, here's a portion of it! Thanks again for your prayers!

... I have been at the hospital all day today, more or less. His surgeon came in this afternoon and explained what he did further. I thought it was a really lovely thing to do, together with his personal phone call after the surgery to put our minds at rest.

He said that, unfortunately, he had to remove all the nerves to make sure he got all the cancer—there was a lot. He also took a lot of lymph nodes—to make sure that no cancer has escaped. But, he said the good news is that there is a lot that can be done for a guy these days (I think he means Viagra!)

This evening Dad looked better and could actually speak without blurring his words. K will go in tomorrow when he is feeling more like visitors. I will go in the afternoon ...

You would be proud of me—I have decorated his notice board with the family photo taken in Montreal and the book cover, and of course cards and emails from our home group and family. So when he woke up and felt better he would feel very cared for! Of course, it doesn’t look as good as it would if you did it—my creative girl!

I so wish I was there ... xoxoxox sent your way Mom, Dad!
