PATIENCE! Got any of that?Some of you are aware of the dare I am on (read here for the history). Well I should be on Day 5 or 6, but I've taken my time through the first couple. Dare #1 is "Love is Patient" ... Get this paragraph of the book:
"If your spouse offends you, do you quickly retaliate, or do you stay under control? Do you find that anger is your emotional default when treated unfairly? If so, you are spreading poison rather than medicine."
I have often responded out of emotion. In fact, I would say that the majority of my life has been dictated out of my emotional responses and reactions. I will be the first one to say to you "God created me that way". I know that He has given be a real PASSION for life and I have often let me emotions dictate my responses. Well day 1 nails that "... Resolve to demonstrate patience and to say nothing negative to your spouse at all ...."
WOW! I have to say it has taken me a couple days to win that dare over. In fact, just as the author told me, once I had read the dare, opportunities GALORE were meeting me face to face. Did I win them all over? Absolutely not! But I have that dare in the forefront of my mind as I interact with my spouse and choose to LEAD my heart instead of following it.
