New Song ... For Me Anyway

When I returned from the UK, there was a CD in the car that I had forgotten I owned.  In fact, it was in the stereo when I drove the car and had a song playing that caught my attention. 

Some of you may be aware of my involvement in music over the past years.  From highschool choirs and band to musical theatre to leading worship, music has always been a huge part of me.  Nothing has changed in that aspect.  What has changed, is my sensitivity to the message of music these days.  The fact is, music can be loud and distracting, but when one makes a CHOICE to HEAR, then it can be powerful.  Recently, the CD Matt Maher, Empty and Beautiful has been loud, but heart motivating and meaningful these days.  One specific song has caught my ear (and heart), "As It Is In Heaven".  If you have speakers on your computer and the volume is up, then you should be hearing it as you read this (Thanks Playlist.)  Check out the lyrics and enjoy the melody.  The message is powerful.  And so it should be, He asked us to pray it!

For me, I have realized the need to worship and recognize Him despite my feelings which are sometimes too powerful for my own good.  A girlfriend of mine once told me that feelings can't dictate our lives.  We need to ACT and the feelings will follow.  Once we start doing that, things really do change around us.  From our attitudes to the responses we get from others as well.  You know, the whole "actions before feelings" thang!  The tough stuff!  (PS works especially well with our relationships!)  Worshipping no matter how I feel, has made an incredible impact in my life.  But then once anyone focusses outside their own world, things can change.  And there's no better place to focus than on His amazing glory!

I hope you have the opportunity to 'act the feelings' you want today.  Give it shot.  From my experience, it truly, truly works!
