British History

There is such value in seeing and hearing about your family's history.

Yesterday, we (my immediate family) spent the day driving around East Sussex hearing about and seeing the history of where my parents grew up, met and 'courted', married and started their family.  We heard about the various bike rides that Mom would take to meet up with Dad to spend the afternoon on the beach together.  We saw the houses they both grew up in and where they lived when they started courting.  There were a few tears and some great laughs as we motored along the coast.

We then went to the church location they married in (the original church has been torn down and rebuilt) and drove to the houses they first lived in with their toddlers and their first home purchase.  It was kinda odd getting out of a vehicle to take pictures of a home they lived in 40-50 years ago!  A few people wondered what these crazy people were doing.  A couple of them asked and my mother welcomed the opportunity to tell them a little Norford history and asked them a few questions.  They were all very friendly, but probably continued on their way laughing once they were out of sight!

It was a great day ... Buddy handled himself really well.  It wasn't an easy day as he was in the carseat most of the day.  But we had our toys and food and a little nap.  Things worked out fine.  In the evening we were at my cousins place with her family (2 young boyz with lots of toys and Wii) so it was a great place to play and waste that energy that was all couped up!  Thomas the train was a BIG hit!

Tomorrow is our official family reunion with about 30-40 family all together.  Some I haven't seen for almost 20 years.  It will be full of fun, food and photos of course ... memories are great to be making.

PS  I'm hoping to get a few pix uploaded tomorrow.  Stay tuned!
