Secrets from a Mom of a Toddler

Okay ... for some of you, these may not be 'secrets'!  But for me, I feel like I have conquered a part of my world.

For the past few months, especially over the summer, I have been trying to structure, organize, free up my brain for fun time and feed my two boyz (Buddy and Hubby!) healthy foods-all at the same time!  So I think I have found a couple things that have helped.  Here they are ...
Every 7-10 days I go to Costco and purchase my fruits and veggies.  Some people may be surprised that Costco would be a good place to purchase fresh food, but the prices are decent and the fruit is really really good!  Honest.  I buy what I call our funky fruits from there - raspberries, strawberries, blueberries and bananas (the only non-funky fruit in my home!)  When I get home, I spend the next hour or so chopping the grapes in half (my son is still at the chokable-on-grapes age), cutting the strawberries and washing the fruit.  Then I put all the fruit in about 12-15 containers
(I LOVE the ones to your left!), bag the rest of the grapes for adult consumption and put them all in the fridge.  It has made life a lot easier.  Whether we are having a meal at home, a snack at home or on the run, the fruit is easy to grab, pop in a bag and eat fresh fruit!  It may seem like a little thing or even easy, but with a toddler looking to run outside or jump on and off the furniture, it is treasured time to prepare for healthy food for them ... It's just a great feeling knowing that most of Buddy's snacks are natural sugar not bagged sugar!

Alex you rock! I love your blogging style, (to confess, because it's so similar to mine! TeeHee)...I agree with you completely! In fact, I just stopped cooking meat 1 meal at a time and now I buy the 4kg box of breasts and bbq half of it, I get the flat of chicken thighs and cooked the entire thing and now in my freezer I have meat that is cooked and easy for ANYONE, including Kevin, Hope or me to pull out and use to make dinner.

Another thing I am about to start doing and you just sort of lite a fire under my butt, is to prepare the day's snacks and lunches and put them in a lunch bag for all the little kids. This way, I don't have to stop doing whatever we are doing to eat.

Thanks for Blogging, would you mind if I added you to my list and then blogged a "go to Alex's blog" blog... hugs LEMME know...
