Phew ... Can't believe it takes an emergency like my father's heart attack to get me blogging again. But it is what it is and here is a couple updates that I have sent out over the past couple dayz during our family's emergency.
Email sent Thursday eve (Sept 2) ...
According to my sister, the odds look good as the ambulance arrived and were able to administer their expertise and meds within 3 min, the best case scenario from what I understand. He is now waiting for an angeoplasty and an overview of health from there.
I will be staying with my nephew and his family while mom and I stay close to dads side. Hopefully he will be released within days and we will be heading back to Lethbridge for his recovery.
Then on Wednesday, my mother is booked for a hip replacement. So I will be nursing them back to health over the next week. My sister Heather should be arriving from New Zealand near the end of the week and will take over from there. She is an RN and the perfect person for the job!!
I appreciate your thoughts and prayers. And will keep you posted.
Email sent Friday (Sept 3) eve ...
I wanted to let you know that my dad is doing very well. This afternoon he was transferred from Foothills Hospital in Calgary, back to the Lethbridge hospital. . Within 18 hrs of the heart attack, he had his stint put in and started medications that are typical for cardiac patients. His main heart artery was at a blockage of 90%, which is where they inserted the stint. They will continue to monitor him for a few more days, as there are a couple secondary arteries that are at 50-70% blockage.
His spirits are incredible and he is only disappointed that he won't be able to drive for 4 wks yet! Alberta law states that heart attack patients are not allowed! Finally ... between him and my mom (hip surgery on Wednesday!) they will HAVE to slow down! No cars for them!
Thanks for your prayers and support. They are appreciated ... I have attached a couple pix from the hospital. SO thankful we didn't lose my dad ....
I will try and keep things updated as we go with any changes. I guess this is what happens to get me back on the bloggin' wagon! Thx for your thoughts and prayers ... take a peek here for some pix of the past couple days.
