Moving Along

Just finished my third week at my new job and Buddy at his new daycare. Received my first paycheck this week and realized there was some financial benefit to dropping off my precious boy, leaving him behind in a new environment with new friends and teachers and then moving into my own classroom to teach and steer Pre-K'ers in the right direction! I have to say the stress that comes with starting a new season of life has dropped somewhat and we are starting to settle into our new routine.

In fact, this week I was out in the play yard with my kids and Buddy's class joined us. He didn't even notice me for the first few minutes as he explored the play structure (he loves these things and this was new for him) and went down the slide at least 3 or 4 times. Then ... then he saw me and the biggest smile dressed his face along with the words ... "my mommy, my mommy! That's my mommy"! Boy did I love to hear that! It was great to see him interact with others kids, some quite a bit older than him and try and work it all out. The educator with him was great and she kept me in the loop as I tried to focus on my Pre-K'ers. It really was rewarding to see him socially interact (or at least make the attempts) and adjust to having mommy there, but not having her undivided attention.

It was most evident when it was time for the little tikes to go in and he couldn't understand why I wasn't coming with. He shed some tears, we kissed and he wandered inside with the others. It was a new experience, but one he got over quickly. Most children do when mama leaves them on the other side of the door!

All in all we are enjoying our Fall ... a few new transitions and environments to get used to, but we are making the most of each and every turn. Here are a couple pix of our life here in the country ...

Buddy playing with a minature train that a previous students mother sent him.
Her son was in my preschool class back in BC over 10 years ago. Makes one feel pretty old I must say!

A couple pix I took of Buddy when we went to the local park for their Fall Colours Festival

More crazy pix available here.
