There are so many ways we are blessed. Each of us have various gifts and blessings that we often take for granted ... at least I do! I was stopped in my tracks this week as a girlfriend of mine blogged about a fantastic new way to look beyond ourselves. It is through World Vision Catalogue Giving.
We just celebrated the first birthday of friend's twin boys and I so wish I had read about this prior to their party! What do you get kids that won't even remember what they opened on their first birthday? Well we bought them something that Luciano has had a great time with and don't regret the purchase at all! However, I realize through this gift catalogue, the impact can be much greater.Here's my girlfriends' experience was ... "For [my son's] birthday, a family friend gave him a soccer ball along with a World Vision Card stating that 3 other soccer balls were given to children who didn't have any, in honour of [his] birthday. HOW FANTASTIC is that!! My friend told me of how World Vision has a catalog of things you can "buy" online for those less fortunate. Price ranges are from very small to extravagant ...."
What an opportunity to give back and teach our kids and those around us of the blessing from GIVING instead of receiving! There are gifts under from as low as $30 to over $250,000! It ranges from giving animals for farming to housing towater irrigation systems ... whatever we can afford, can be given 3 or 4 times over when we think outside our box!
